We are all shocked to realize that seventeen years have passed since the first Call of Duty. Since then, every year one of the surest things we knew would happen is that a new part of this legendary video game would be launched. For PC, PS2, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii. Whatever console or PC you had, the latest version was available to you. Every fan of the first-person shooter genre and generally a fan of video games has played at least a few parts of Call of Duty. From World War Two to future and black ops missions, you have experienced all while playing this game. And the developers from Activision do not plan to stop. A new part has been announced for this year and we expect that from this or next year, the owners of the upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles will also enjoy playing this war hit. Since it is easy to say that this is a cult franchise that has influenced gaming so much, today we will present you the best parts according to us.
1. Call of Duty – 2003.
We must first mention the first part. If it wasn’t so successful, probably all the other parts wouldn’t exist. It was released seventeen years ago and was nothing short of revolutionary. One of the first first-person shooters to introduce many innovations to the genre and gaming in general, such as the health bar. The plot took place during the Second World War and had a very interesting campaign that followed the soldiers of the US, Great Britain and the Soviet Union. The graphics and sound quality were some of the best at the time. We can certainly say that the whole FPS genre would have looked much different had it not been for this game.
2. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 – 2018.
The Call of Duty series has undergone huge changes several times throughout almost two decades of existence, trying to match the interests of the huge fan base, so it took us through the battles set during the Second World War, all the way to those that took place in the near future and in space. When you think of a journey like this that encompasses everything from faithfully presented historical events to complete science fiction, it may seem strange to you to say that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is the most different installment so far.
There are several strong arguments for this claim. What certainly surprised many is that Black Ops 4 does not have a single-player mode that was an unavoidable part of every Call of Duty, but focuses exclusively on multiplayer. The development team paid so much attention to the multiplayer part of the game, and we could easily justify such a decision.
Every aspect of the Black Ops 4 game has its advantages and disadvantages. All together they give a top gaming experience and enjoyment in the long run. With the addition of Blackout, CoD is entering the battle royale scene and the competition should be concerned. Perhaps the only drawback of this game that we noticed is the problem around matchmaking. But when we think about it, which game has no problem with that? Zombie mode is perhaps the most interesting, but at the same time it has more than few bags. Still, it is not that much to keep you from playing. Black Ops 4 is definitely one of the best Call of Duty titles.
3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – 2019.
Activision has brought graphics and sound to the highest level in this installment. Unlike the previous part, about whom we also wrote in this text, in this one the single-player mode and the campaign, has returned. Every part of the game has been upgraded and we have one fantastic title that will keep you busy with both the single-player campaign and then the multiplayer that you will play for months. And if you want to be competitive from the very first moment, you can buy many different services to improve your game. You can find more info about that here.
4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – 2009.
Even if you are not a gamer, you have probably heard of one of the most controversial missions ever in video games, and that is the “No Russian” mission from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The goal of the mission is for you as an undercover CIA agent to kill as many unarmed and helpless people at Moscow airport to infiltrate and gain the trust of terrorists. But that mission is not the only thing this sequel can offer you. This is one of the best FPS ever without a doubt. Full of action, the main story full of plot twists and everything else makes this game not outdated even a decade after its first release.
5. Call of Duty: WWII – 2017.
Maybe not everyone would agree with our choice to put this installment on the list, but we really liked going back to World War II, after almost ten years where the plot was set in the present or future and after perhaps the worst part, Infinite Warfare, this came as a real refreshment. WWII has maintained the high quality of production by which this series is famous. Set during World War II at a time when the only important thing in the world was to defeat the Nazis and prevent them from carrying out their plan.
A story that follows a young soldier from Texas whom you will lead through D-Day and battles through the rest of occupied France, all the way to the final battles in Germany, to the defeat of the Nazi troops. What this game has brought us the biggest novelty is the replacement for the curing process and collection of ammunition, because the player has to ask for health packages from his comrades, instead of hiding in the shelter. The same goes for ammunition and grenades. This system is an extremely interesting novelty that somewhat changes the concept of the game because you can’t just run around and shoot.
Conclusion:
While we wait for the new sequels, use that time to play these 5 best installments one more time.
