Playing video games is an activity that suddenly became very popular after the quarantine took place in many countries across the world. It’s something that allows you to have fun without leaving your home, and considering that most popular titles nowadays are multiplayer, you’re still able to have some interaction with your friends.

It’s not very easy to get into the world of gaming since you’ll need at least a mid-range PC to enjoy the latest games, but once you invest you’ll have a new and wonderful hobby. Some people like to play on consoles as well, which is perfectly fine, although not many titles are available there. However, if you happen to be a singleplayer gamer, a console is a great option.

Anyway, in today’s article, we’re going to talk about some of the best action video games that you can play on your gaming PC in 2024. So, we apologize to the console users since this one is going to be focused on the PC enthusiasts. We know that it’s not easy to choose a game that’s fun and exciting these days, so we decided to put up this list just for you and allow you to skip the searching process entirely. We have a lot to talk about, so let’s end this introduction right here and jump straight into the content.

1. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

We cannot begin a list of action games without mentioning the absolute titan in this genre, and that’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. With a constantly rising player base, this game is becoming even more popular than it was, and trust me, it was really popular when it first came out. Constant updates are on the way because the dev team is facing some competition now that Valorant is out, and while we’re at Valorant, let’s take a look at our second competitor in the FPS genre.

2. Valorant

A video game that released officially on the 2nd of May, developed and published by Riot Games, a studio known for its MOBA titan named League of Legends. Valorant is a title that’s supposed to be highly competitive and a great place for serious gamers to battle out in a fair and polished environment. We’re not sure how the game will turn out because it’s still early to tell, but judging by the hype it received during the closed beta, we think that it’s on a great way to be a new ground-breaking product.

3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

If you are into tactical shooters, especially ones that offer an unforgettable multiplayer experience, you cannot go wrong with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The latest release is phenomenal and now that the devs added a four-man squad option, the fun is on a completely different level. COD has always been a great title in this genre, and what makes it even better is the fact that you can play both from your PC and your console as well. It features cross-platform play.

4. World of Warcraft

WoW is and will be in the top 5 games of all time, especially now that classic came out, and a new impressive expansion is on its way. Shadowlands is so looked forward to by the pros, and everybody thinks that it’s a wonderful expansion that’s going to feature all of the changes that players requested for a long time. Sometimes casual players don’t have enough time to keep up with all the changes which are added in the game, so whether this is leveling your cloak or corrupting your items if you cannot make it, you’ll be at a huge disadvantage.

5. Metro 2033

It would be a shame if we continued this list without adding a singleplayer game, one that’s probably considered to be the best atmospheric title of all time. Metro 2033 might be an older one, but it still deserves all the attention that we can give it. It’s truly a phenomenal masterpiece and if you can crank up those settings to the max on your 2024 gaming PC, you’ll enjoy it both story-wise and visually. The post-apocalyptic environment hits a bit different when we’re quarantined and there’s a global pandemic going on outside, so now’s the right time to play it.

6. Fortnite

Many say that Fortnite is “dying”, and although the game indeed lost a lot of players, we still think that it’s far away from being “dead”. Chances are that you’ve tried this one already, especially if you are someone that’s into gaming and you like to keep up with the latest titles, but if you haven’t, we recommend that you do.

Both the building and the shooting aspect of it are really fun, but be vary and keep in mind that you’re about to run into very experienced players, so don’t be discouraged if you cannot win every battle that you have. With enough practice, however, you will improve pretty quickly, so don’t be afraid to put in those hours into Fortnite, regardless if you’re a console or a PC player.

7. Borderlands 3

Last but not least, we have an amazing story-driven game that’s both singleplayer and multiplayer at the same time, but playing with your friends as a squad if hands-down is a lot more fun. Every Borderlands game is amazing, and you should try them all out if you have the time for it. We feel like the 2nd one was the best out of all, but if you play them one by one in the correct order, you’ll have a lot of fun.

Borderlands 3 can be played with random people, so even if you don’t have a team or a group of friends willing to play with you, the matchmaking system will find your teammates based on your level and skill. It’s not a very competitive game as you’re not playing vs other players, so don’t worry too much about it.
