After their release, Turkish educators demand that they be reinstated to their jobs

nsnbc : Turkish educators who ended their hunger strike which they had begun demanding that they be reinstated to their jobs, on the 324th day, were discharged from hospital on Friday.

Nuriya Gülmen_Turkey_Feb 2018Nuriye Gülmen, Semih Özakça, Esra Özakça and Mehmet Güveli were being treated at Ankara Diskapi Hospital since January 26 when they ended their hunger strike. On her Twitter account, Nuriye Gülmen announced her discharge stating:

“We were discharged today. We’re all fine. We are at our home with Uncle Mehmet. I will make another statement for the visitation. Once again: Long Live Resistance, Long Live Victory! Long Live Our Yüksel Resistance!”

Discharged by a statutory decree, academic Nuriye Gülmen was in front of the Human Rights Monument on Yüksel Street in the capital Ankara to stage a sit-in protest since November 9, 2016, followed by teacher Semih Özakça since November 23, 2016.

They went on hunger strike on March 9, 2017. They were arrested on May 23, 2017. Semih Özakça was released on October 20, 2017 and Nuriye Gülmen on December 1, 2017. They ended their hunger strike on January 26, the 324th day of the hunger strike.
