Islamic State in Yarmouk Executed Palestinian Girl for Supporting Government
nsnbc : Terrorists of the Islamic State executed a Palestinian girl in the Palestinian Yarmouk refugee camp in the Syrian capital Damascus after accusing her of supporting the Syrian government.
On Wednesday a Sharia court of the so-called Islamic State (ISIS, ISIL, Daesh) in Yarmouk sentenced Hadil Yassin Abu al-Madi to death for “supporting the Syrian regime”.
ISIL’s so-called al-Hisba police had arrested her, accusing her of spying for Syrian intelligence. Hadil Yassin Abu al-Madi was publicly executed immediately after being sentenced to death.
The Islamic State has been in control of most of Yarmouk since it expelled other al-Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood linked insurgents including Jabhat al-Nusra (Jabhat fatah al-Sham) and allied groups out of the area.
The Al-Hajar al-Aswad neighborhood of Damascus is believed to be ISIL’s main military staging area in Damascus. However, ISIL is also in control of most of the nearby Yarmouk and Tadamun Districts.
Yarmouk was the largest Palestinian refugee camp in the Middle East before the war erupted in 2012. Although, the term “refugee camp” may be misleading.
Yarmouk is a major residential area and used to be an integral part of the capital Damascus where Palestinian has refugee status, but were, as in all other Palestinian refugee camps, granted basically the same civil rights as Syrian citizens.
The war was initially introduced to Yarmouk by Hamas after the Palestinian Muslim Brotherhood organization, in 2012, decided to side with Muslim Brotherhood linked “rebels”, and severed ties with the Syrian government that had hosted them for decades.
Hamas participated, among others, in fights against the PFLP-GC and other secular factions in Yarmouk and other Palestinian refugee camps in Syria, thus opening the doors for Islamist insurgents including Al-Nusra and ISIS who have since then seized control of Yarmouk.
