Syria agreed to put Chemical Weapons under International Control
Christof Lehmann (nsnbc) , - Syria´s Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Walid al-Moallem, has stated that Syria welcomes a Russian proposal to hand the control over its chemical weapons to the international community for subsequent destruction, and for Syria to join the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. UN Secretary General Ban Kyi-moon calls for measures to provide safe storage and destruction of the weapons. FSA Commander Idriss calls President al-Assad a liar, and Russia´s President Vladimir Putin his teacher. There is reason to suspect a provocative false flag chemical weapons attack on Israel, states the Russian TV channel RT, referring to several sources.
In Response to the Russian proposal, conveyed through his Russian counterpart, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, al-Moallem said:
“The Syrian Arab Republic welcomes Russia´s initiative, based on the Syrian governments care about the lives of our people and the security of our country”.
UN Secretary General Ban Kyi-Moon, who categorically rejects any aggression against Syria which does not have the approval of the UN Security Council, has responded by calling for measures to provide for the safe storage and destruction of the Syrian chemical weapons, saying:
“I am sure that the international community will take quick measures to make sure that these chemical weapons reserves are stored in a safe place and are to be destroyed”.
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Cameron, responded to the development, saying to the UK Parliament, that the proposal to hand over Syria´s chemical weapons to international control must not merely be a distraction tactic, saying:
“If Syria were to put its chemical weapons beyond use under international supervision clearly that would be a big step forward. … We have to be careful though to make sure this is not a distraction tactic to discuss something else rather than the problem on the table.”
The British Prime Minister reiterated also, that the conflict in Syria only can be solved by political methods. The Parliament of the United Kingdom has recently voted against British participation in military strikes against Syria. David Cameron stressed, that the only way to end the conflict is to work towards a peaceful political decision.
Warnings from “Rebel Commander”. Selim Idriss, the chief of the so-called Free Syrian Army, responded to the development by stating to the Qatar owned TV channel Al-Jazeera, that President Bashar al-Assad and Moscow are full of deceit, saying:
“We call for strikes and we warn the international community that this regime tells lies, and the liar Putin is its teacher. Putin is the biggest liar. …
An additional twist to the development is, that the Russian TV channel RT refers to several RT sources, according to whom the “rebels” are planning to launch a chemical weapons attack against Israel from an area that is under control of the Syrian Arab Amy, as a provocation that would elicit military strikes against Syria.
