The Russian Foreign Ministry pointed out, that not only the international experts had presented the evidence for the falsification of the purported photo and video evidence.

The participants of the 24th session of the UN Human Rights Council were also presented evidence and statements from public Syrian figures and journalists, including Syrian social and religious leaders, and from journalist Anastasia Popova. The statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed, that the participants in the Human Rights Council session have presented many eyewitness statements and testimony to the attendees.

Eyewitnesses confirmed, that the opposition fighters have used the chemical weapon in Eastern Ghouta on 21 August.

The Ministry stressed, that the results of the investigations and the testimony were handed over to the UN Human Rights Council´s Commission of Inquiry on Syria.

The 24th Human Rights Council session was held under the title “The US Threats of Using Force against Syria”. The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that all participants of the Human Rights Council session agree, that carrying out the military scenario in Syria and bypassing the UN Security Council would be a blatant violation of international law.

The participants warned, that a foreign intervention in Syria would lead to a humanitarian catastrophe in Syria as well as in the region as a whole, and that a foreign intervention would cause the loss of human life, in addition to the fact that it would serve the extremists interests.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has stated, that the experts at the UN Human Rights Council session called upon the United Nations to prevent any aggression against Syria and demanded, that Washington take responsibility for its illegitimate threats of using military force against Syria.

The Syrian government and the UN Investigation Team have agreed on cooperating in the investigation into the use of chemical weapons, while the USA and its allies rushed to accuse the Syrian government.

The alleged chemical weapons attack in Eastern Ghouta, near Damascus,  which the falsified photo and video evidence alleges to represent, was carried out on the very day that the UN Investigation Team arrived in Damascus.

Syria has agreed to render its chemical weapons under international control for later destruction and Syria has agreed to join the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

The Russian TV Channel Russia Today quoted sources, warning that insurgents plan a chemical weapon attack from a Syrian controlled area on Israel to provoke a military response, and to preempt a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
